anxiety
The felt experience of anxiety is rooted in the physical body. The treatment paradox of anxiety is that facing, rather than fearing what is gripping us, is what allows us to break free.
Practicing mindful awareness of how and when anxiety grips us, is the first step in treating anxiety. Breath awareness and calming and soothing skills are the next steps in treating anxiety, for some practical, instant relief. Learning to be a mindful witness of one’s experience, can be approached through a variety of practices: cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), affective experiential therapy (AEDP) somatic focussing skills, meditation, yoga postures. Complementary treatments with acupuncture, homeopathy, changes in diet and nutrition and, in some situations, medication, can support your recovery process.
We will explore the triggers that contribute to your anxiety and work to confront and disable the beliefs and associations promoting anxiety. A sense of humor and compassion for oneself, is the context for successful anxiety treatment.
