addictions
Addictions are symptoms. Whether it is over responsibility for the addict in your life or confronting an addiction personally, it can be a revealing and relieving process to confront the underlying roots of addiction.
Proceeding from this simple truth, I have worked with individuals in recovery for over 30 years. The experience of not wanting to feel or experience what we are feeling and experiencing in any given moment, is the reality of addiction.
Healthy recovery is about learning to be present, moment to moment, with life, as it unfolds. The grace of maintaining ones presence in the face of any circumstance is the essence of recovery and freedom from addictions. Yogic philosophy and twelve step programs offer many tools for recovery and I incorporate principles from both philosophies, in my treatment planning. Affective Experiential therapy (AEDP) cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodrama and addressing pain management are important elements for treating addictive disorders. There is no one path to sobriety and I bring a creative array of tools to the therapeutic process and spiritual exploration, to discover what works best for you.
